General Questions

We service a wide range of small engine equipment including lawn mowers (riding and push), lawn and garden tractors, zero-turn mowers, generators (portable and standby), snow blowers, pressure washers, and compact utility tractors. If it's a small gas engine, we can likely repair it. We work on all major brands including John Deere, Cub Cadet, Husqvarna, Craftsman, Honda, Generac, and many others.

We're located at 105 South Green Street in Keota, IA 52248. Our shop is easily accessible from Highway 149. You can find us right in the heart of Keota—look for our sign near the downtown area. Feel free to stop by during business hours for estimates or to drop off equipment.

Our regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We're also open on Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM for customer pickups and emergency service. We're closed on Sundays. During peak season (spring and fall), we may have extended hours—give us a call to confirm.

While walk-ins are welcome, we recommend calling ahead or filling out our contact form to schedule an appointment. This ensures we have time to properly diagnose your equipment and provide an accurate estimate. During our busy spring and fall seasons, appointments are strongly recommended.

Services & Repairs

Repair times vary depending on the complexity of the issue and our current workload. Simple repairs like belt replacements or blade sharpening are often completed the same day or next business day. More complex repairs involving engine work or parts ordering may take 3-5 business days. When you drop off your equipment, we'll give you an estimated completion time.

Yes! We provide free diagnostics and written estimates before any repair work begins. We'll inspect your equipment, identify the problem, and give you a detailed estimate including parts and labor costs. There's no charge for the diagnosis itself—you only pay for the repair if you choose to proceed.

We service all major lawn and garden equipment brands including John Deere, Cub Cadet, Husqvarna, Craftsman, Troy-Bilt, Snapper, Ariens, Cub Cadet, and many more. For generators, we work on Generac, Honda, Briggs & Stratton, Kohler, Cummins, and Winco. If you have a less common brand, give us a call—we may still be able to help.

Yes! We offer pickup and delivery service for riding mowers, tractors, and generators. Within 15 miles of Keota, pickup is free. For areas 15-25 miles away, a small delivery fee applies. Simply schedule pickup when you call, and we'll arrange to collect your equipment and return it once repairs are complete.

We accept cash, personal checks, and all major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. Payment is due at the time of pickup or upon completion of service. We do not offer financing options at this time.

Generator Service

We recommend annual generator service before storm season (typically in late winter or early spring). This includes oil and filter changes, air filter service, spark plug inspection, fuel system cleaning, battery testing, and a full operational check including load testing. If you use your generator frequently (more than a few times per year), consider service twice annually.

Common reasons generators won't start include: old or stale fuel, a dead or weak battery, a clogged carburetor, dirty air filter, bad spark plug, or an overloaded circuit. If your generator won't start, bring it in for diagnosis—we'll identify the problem and get your backup power ready.

Yes, we do! Our technicians are experienced with standby home generators including Generac, Kohler, and Briggs & Stratton systems. We offer full maintenance packages and can handle most repair needs. For complex warranty work, we may refer you to authorized dealers, but routine maintenance and most repairs can be done right here.

Lawn Mower Questions

Uneven cutting is usually caused by one of these issues: worn or damaged blades, uneven tire pressure, a deck that's not level, bent deck components, or worn deck wheels. We can quickly diagnose the cause and get your mower cutting evenly again.

For most residential use, we recommend sharpening blades every 20-25 hours of operation or at least once per season. If you notice your grass looking ragged after mowing, or the blade edges look nicked or rounded, it's time for sharpening. We offer blade sharpening while you wait for many mower types.

A little smoke on first startup (especially if the mower has been stored) is often just old oil burning off. However, persistent smoking, blue smoke (burning oil), or black smoke (running rich) indicates a problem. Possible causes include overfilling the oil, a stuck choke, carburetor issues, or internal engine wear. Bring it in if the smoke continues.

Pricing & Warranties

Repair costs vary widely depending on the issue. Simple repairs like belt replacement start around $50-80. More complex repairs like transmission work or engine overhauls can range from $300-800 or more. We'll always provide a written estimate before proceeding with any repair work. You approve the price first—we never proceed without your OK.

Yes! We provide a 90-day warranty on all labor for repair work. Parts are warranted according to the manufacturer's warranty (typically 30 days to one year, depending on the part). If you experience any issues with a repair we completed, bring it back and we'll make it right at no additional charge.
